Fraunhofer-Institut für Organische Elektronik, Elektronenstrahl- und Plasmatechnik FEP
After a successful pro flex 2017, we are delighted to announce the date of pro flex 2019 and to invite you to a highly interesting conference!
Roll-to-roll processing of flexible materials by using wet chemical and vacuum coating technologies is a high growth industry with a wide variety of important industrial products like packaging films, solar control window films, batteries, capacitors, touch-screens, flexible OLED lighting and signage, RFIDs, anti-counterfeiting labels, solar cells, future flexible displays, building envelope components, and many more.
From November 5 – 6, 2019, a colorful conference program on current issues in research and practice of roll-to-roll technology awaits you. 2019, this program is complemented for the first time by an afternoon tutorial on roll-to-roll technologies on November 4.
For a deeper insight, we have prepared a list of presentations which were held at the previous pro flex conferences. Furthermore, you may find a review of pro flex 2017 by Dr. Charles Bishop in the Converting Quarterly 1/2018, on page 26.
If you have any questions, please contact proflex@fep.fraunhofer.de
We are looking forward to your participation in pro flex 2019.
Sincerely,
Nicolas Schiller Annett Arnold

Material Characterization and Quality Control In-line process monitoring and thin film characterization are essential to provide reliable coating materials and high yield processes. This tour provides a sneak peek into the work done at Fraunhofer FEP and her partners. The lab tour includes a live demonstration of mechanical endurance testers for flexible materials including thin film glass as well as a live demonstration of a fast spatially resolved thin film inspection by Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) and laser-based device for ultra-high barrier measurements (HiBarSens) at Fraunhofer IWS. Process monitoring is demonstrated at our web-coater labFlex® 200 using a novel plasma and vacuum monitor developed by VACOM |

Lightweight Engineering Lightweight Engineering is an important field of contemporary research and development. Achievements in this area have a strong effect on various industries like aerospace, automotive/transportation and construction. Lightweight constructions gain presently importance due to the need of energy savings in virtually all sectors of public life. The Fraunhofer institutes at the Campus Dresden Winterbergstraße work in various projects related to this topic. Those projects do not necessarily involve vacuum deposition steps. The Special Topic Tour “Lightweight Engineering” is intended to provide an impression of the variety of technical challenges in Lightweight Engineering which are presently tackled by Fraunhofer Researchers in Dresden. |
